personal plan without domain name

  • Unknown's avatar

For the paid plans, I know that the custom domain charges are included for the first year.
After the first year is over, I don’t wish to use the domain name.
Can I continue to use all the personal plan facilities without the custom domain name renewal? What will be the charges then?
    thanks.

If you want the features of the Personal plan (which would mainly be no ads displaying on your site) then you can upgrade but keep your existing address that ends in .wordpress.com. That would be easier than registering a custom domain address and having the hassle of trying to remove it and revert to your current address 11 months down the line.

    Thanks themagicrobot.
What about the charges then? Because I don’t want to use the custom domain !

A custom domain is included free for the first year if you pay annually. If you don’t wanrt the free domain (which you would be charged for in year two) then don’t register one. The cost of the Personal plan would be the same either way. If you purchased a monthly Personal plan the cost of registering a domain is in addition to the monthly cost of the plan anyway.

  • Hi @samyakutkarsh,

Is there any particular reason why you do not want a custom domain? As @themagicrobot mentioned, you will be able to go back to use the free address after one year but, bear in mind that, many of your visitors will learn the domain name and they may not know how to find your site after the change. If you prefer to just keep using the free address, you’re welcome to do that too.
