Personal pricing plan without the domain

  • Unknown's avatar

Not too long ago, I asked this question: How do I upgrade to a Personal site without having it bundled with the domain registration?

The answer was: You can purchase Personal and skip the domain option.

The problem is that I see no way of skipping the domain option. The first screen is selecting how many years you want to pay for, and Continue collects the payment information; and the call-to-action button is “Pay $52.92”.

Can you explain how this is done (and whether that reduces the price)?

Also, I found googling that the Personal Plan does not allow me to add extra CSS code. Is that right?

    Thank you!

  • Hi there,

When you first purchase a plan, the domain credit comes complimentary with the purchase for the first year. So, you’re not paying extra for the domain. Once you purchase the plan, you must redeem the domain credit to add it to your account.

However, if you do not have a custom domain you want to use with the Plan, you do not have the use it. So, for example, with the Personal Plan for the first year, the price is $48 USD, including the domain subscription credit. Each additional year is also $48, but if you want to continue with the domain subscription, you will have to pay for it in addition to the $48 Personal Plan.

Were you planning to use a domain you registered with a different host? If so, you can also use the domain credit to connect that domain to your site hosted on WordPress.com.

Correct, the CSS feature is available on the Premium and Business Plans, not the Personal Plan”

Hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks!
