Personal/premium plans and coupon codes
-
Hello there, I was thinking of purchasing a plan for my blog. I did a little digging and from what I see you need to have certain traffic on your personal plan to be able to monetize it and you can monetize it on a premium plan without that. How many visitors does a site have to have to be able to monetize it on a personal plan or can I find a coupon code for the premium plan and buy it instead? ( since i can only afford around 50$ at the moment for the yearly plan)

Yes, once you have the Premium Plan, you’ll be able to get automatic access to our WordAds program.
All free and personal sites need medium to high traffic which generates about thousands of views. You can learn more about our FAQ’s for WordAds here (https://www.wordads.co/faq/)
I am not sure if we have any available coupon codes available. You can use PayPal as well if you have money on there, and you’d have to pay by any major credit/debit card company. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Hello there @nightmaresunleashed Just to expand a little further on what our forum volunteer @alissonwp mentioned, you might also be interested in reading these Staff replies in previous forum discussions about the WordAds program:

As you can understand from those threads, even with a discount coupon it may take some time before you recoup the outlay for a Personal or Premium plan, which you will need to renew yearly in order to be eligible.
If your site doesn’t meet the high traffic requirement, all in all, you might want to consider purchasing the Personal plan, which fits in your budget, in order to remove WordPressdotcom’s ads from appearing on your site. https://en.support.wordpress.com/no-ads/
There are other ways you can monetize your site within the Terms of Service, which are outlined in this support guide to Monetization: https://en.support.wordpress.com/monetize-your-site/
Let us know if you have any other questions about this.

Thank you for the replies. Unfortunately I can not apply for wordads since their only payment method from what i saw is trough paypal and my country only has the option to pay with paypal I can not receive money trough it. I was looking into affiliate links and I can use them since amazon pays trough checks and payoneer if I am not mistaken. Which plans allow affiliate links?
Also is it allowed to use a patreon on the page?
And can I only use google adsense with a business plan? -
Thanks for getting back to us, and @justjennifer thanks for your help here as well.
Affiliate linking is available with all plans, but it should be with trusted merchants. I have more information on Affiliate linking here (https://en.support.wordpress.com/monetize-your-site/#affiliate)
Patreon WordPress Is a plugin that is available on our WordPress.com Business plan.
Yes, you are correct — Google Adsense or other advertising platform besides WordAds are available on our WordPress.com Business plan. The link above I shared will give you more information about that as well. So glad I was able to answer your questions! Let me know if you have any more questions. Thanks!

Alrighty, one last thing and I’m done pestering you. Would it be allowed to link a patreon on any plan or is it not allowed? (i mean just sending the link since the other plans dont have the plugin)
-
No worries! I am always happy to help. I am a bit confused on what you mean by that. Please elaborate on what you mean further so that I can assist.
-
I mean doing something like posting patreon.com/example in an about page or something similar. Would it violate any guideline or rule?
-
No, that is not violating anything. As long as you aren’t copying the page when you aren’t supposed to — Then everything should be fine.
You can use others links with their permisson, but that shouldn’t be an issue. Let me know if you have any more questions. Thanks!

Hello again, regarding Patreon and Ko-fi or a different donation platform, as mentioned above, you can provide your site visitors a link to your page on each of those platforms. However since you mentioned earlier that you can’t receive payments through PayPal, you’d need to check with each of those platforms directly to see how they pay out, i.e. if it isn’t through PayPal.
Cheers and best wishes.
