"phantom" menu item
-
Dear WordPress.
My site suddenly started showing two “Home” page links in the top menu on the pages. One of them connected to my regular home page, the other returns a “Not Found” message when you click on it. I deleted my original home page to see what would happen – it just deleted my home page, the ‘phantom’ menu is still there. It is not in any of the other places where I edit, so I can’t find a way to get rid of it. I want to start building my site, but am afraid I might need to just start over, so I haven’t been working on it.
Can you help?

You can correct these by constructing your own menu at Appearance -> Menus in your blog’s Dashboard.

So that worked. Thank you. The “phantom” home page link in the top bar is no longer there.
BUT
Now, when you go to our simplest blog address wordpress.brianleewedding.com it still leads you to the old “phantom” home page that give the “Not Found” message. You can then click on the home link at the top and you go to my real home page. is there any way to make the home page I have created have the address wordpress.brianleewedding.com instead of …com/home ?

The reason you’re seeing a “404 Not Found message on your site is because your home page is currently set as your posts page.
Because you haven’t published any posts, only pages, there is no information for this page to display. To fix this, you need to set a static front page for your site via your Settings -> Reading page:
