phishing efforts getting past akismet to comments
-
I am getting what I think are phishing efforts on the comments to my emotional fitness blog. The phisher seems to have confused my blog with Emotional Field Therapy hence to reference to tapping. They also seem to come from Facebook. Here is an example:
“Last week I was experiencing exatcly what you were. Moving from my dream home on the sea back to the city of Johannesburg (South Africa). I kept putting off packing fortunately had 2 helpers. Clearing out and letting go of stuff that was my life with my life partner was painful. I was so engrossed in my mind chatter that I never thought of tapping! This is so often the case that I miss these great opportunities to tap in the moment. I teach my clients to do so I need to practice what I preach. Thanks for reminding me. Annette. PS I have tapping to do on grieving the loss of my home, business and life partner.”Here is information about the one of the comments but not the one above.

Anyway I can stop this. I monitor all comments and send the ones I have doubts about to the spam folder.

Please don’t post spam and any IP addresses at all to the forums. This is a public forum. Every thread is indexed by Google and every thread where every thread is available to everyone on the internet.
The vast and overwhelming majority of all so-called information on the internet is spam. Over 80% of all so-called comments submitted to .wordpress.com blogs every day are spam.
Spam comes in waves. If you approved a single spam comment on a post then the spammers will target your post and hammer it over and over again.
On the spam that Akismet catches it takes only seconds to click “empty spam” and you don’t even have to click “empty spam” if you don’t want to. Akismet will maintain comments it has caught for 15 days from the time they were received, and then it will delete the comment automatically.
If you get spam that slips by Akismet then mark it as spam (do not delete it) and over time Akismet will learn it’s spam.
Note: The worst of all spam containing malware and viruses is not sent to us. It’s removed as it could bring down many blogs if opened.
There is no such thing as eliminating all spam but Akismet works very well. For more information please take the time to read “5 things every blogger should know about spam” on this page Akismet: How it works http://akismet.com/how/
