I have tried to input my phone number xxxxxxxxxx and xxx-xxx-xxxx. Neither will work. What should I do?

Where have you tried to input them? If you’re trying to put them in the forums here, they’ll be stripped out as they’re not allowed. (I’m just a volunteer here, like most people, so don’t blame me, please.)
Also, if you want any security at all in your life, you should not be putting phone numbers in a public blog.

I’m trying to register a .com site and it requires a phone number but I have tried to put in xxxxxxxxxx and xxx-xxx-xxxx and neither will work. The phone number is a required field. Because I am having such a hard time, is there a number I can call to register the site?

Is this even a WordPress.com issue? If not, I don’t know why you’re asking here. WordPress.com doesn’t require a phone number for sign up.
If you’re trying to do something with a self-hosted site, then you should be asking in the WordPress.org forums, not here:

If they are trying to enter the phone number during purchase of a domain name via a wordpress.com upgrade, then yes it is a wordpress issue.
@netitheyeti, two things to try:
1. Log out, clear your browser cache and cookies and try again.
2. If 1 doesn’t work, try a different browser.

Thank you all for your help. I was actually buying something from the WordPress store. I tried again today and my phone number was accepted, so all lis right with the world.
