Phone Support
-
Is there any way to talk to a person via phone to get support, or is absolutely everything done through email and forums? I really wish I could talk to a person about renewing my domain name without renewing my premium package.
Does anyone have a phone number?
Thanks in advance.

Speak up here please as there is no phone support. Only those with the Business Upgrade have live chat support.

http://en.support.wordpress.com/live-chat/This is a peer support forum where Staff and Volunteers work together cooperatively to provide WordPress.com support. Emailing support means it takes longer to get an answer than posting to the support forums does.
Volunteers answer the majority of all support questions and when we cannot provide support we tag threads for Staff assistance.
We are happy to answer your WordPress.COM questions right here in this thread. Please simply post exactly what you need help with into this thread, knowing there’s rarely ever a question posted here that has not already been asked and answered.

I’ll tag this thread for a Staff follow-up. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

I’d be happy to remove the premium bundle for hexylady.com so you can just renew the domain itself. Do you wish for me to do so now?

Thanks for the reply. I didn’t realize that I would be more likely to get a quicker answer here. I did send a private support request yesterday with much more detail to staff. I got a response that my question had been received, and I got a link to follow the private response when it comes. I just haven’t gotten any answers yet.
I was checking here to see if there was a quicker way to do business via phone.
I’m simply getting nervous because my premium package will renew in 12 days. BlueHost is my new host and they are in the process of migrating my site, but it isn’t ready to go live yet. I think I can figure out how to repoint my domain once that occurs. Once the domain is repointed to the new host I know that I can unlock the domain and transfer it, but if I run up against time constraints I am willing to renew the domain for a year before I transfer it, if i can just figure out how to separate it from the premium package.
I suspect that if I cancel the package that the domain will show a dollar figure and that I will be able to set up automatic renew for the domain alone, but I am afraid to cancel the package for fear that the domain will disappear along with the package.
I’m sorry for the double request for help. I’m just really nervous now with the process of moving to self hosting. Thanks in to all of you good people for listening to my concerns.

Jackiedana,
You posted just before I finished that post above. Yes. Please remove the premium bundle for hexylady.com.
I assume that all of the services will continue through the year which will end near the end of August. It is scheduled to renew about a month before the end of service.

Jackiedana,
I must say that I am very impressed with the speed with which I got a response on the public forum. That’s amazing. Thank you so much.

It sounds like you’d prefer to keep the premium bundle until it expires, so rather than remove it, I have unbundled the domain from the rest of the upgrade. If you go to your Dashboard, when you view Store > My Upgrades now, you will have two separate upgrades you can renew or not as you choose. If you just wish to renew the domain, you can do so now.
To point the domain to Bluehost, you will need to update the name servers when you’re ready:

Jackiedana,
Thank you so much. You have truly earned the title “Happiness Engineer” today.
This is exactly what I wanted, and it didn’t seem as if there was a way to accomplish it on my own. So thank you for helping separate things out for me. I turned off automatic renewal on the Premium Bundle, and turned on automatic renewal on the domain. Now I can be confident that I can make a smooth transition without the fear of losing my domain in the process.
I guess I should have come here first.
I’ll post to my private thread that my question was answered in the public forum.

You’re very welcome, and I’ve already added a note to your private thread and closed it, so there’s nothing else you need to do. :)
