Photo before title?

  • Unknown's avatar

How do I insert a photo at the very top of the blog post (before the text title)? When I signed up, some sample ‘editable’ posts had that feature, so I used them and love the look. But now that I’ve run out of samples to edit, I can’t figure out how to get the photo above the title. Any suggestions are very welcome! Thanks.

    Hello,

You are using Rowling theme on your blog which supports featured images. Below is what the theme documentation says about your theme’s featured images.

To help tell your story visually, Rowling uses Featured Images as entry points to your posts. They’re displayed just below the title on blog posts. On index and archive pages — which have a grid layout — Featured Images are displayed as thumbnails above the post title. For optimal results, select a Featured Image at least 1200px wide.

You can find detailed theme documentation on below link

    https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/rowling/

Also, you can follow the guidelines given on below page to achieve desired results on your blog i.e. set images above post title

    Featured Images

Please let me know if it helps.

Thank you for the info and the links. I followed all the steps, and the featured image appears above the text on the ‘edit’ page. However, when I publish it, the image does not show. Aaaargh!

    Hello,

the featured image appears above the text on the ‘edit’ page.

Didn’t get you here. Can you please explain a little bit more about what you did?

Also, I guess the concerned post you are talking about is “Window of opportunity” on your front page.

Can you please double check the post and make sure that it has featured image assigned to it. Also. please make sure to maintain recommended resolution of images. In your case the image should be 1200px wide.

In addition, let me know which editor are you using.

There are two we have on WordPress.com

    1. Front end editor (which directly appears when you login)
    2. Editor resided in WP-admin area ( You can go to your WP-admin area using link below and logging in over there )

Thanks, I think I figured it out. The main issue is that WordPress takes several minutes to show changes on the home page – specifically images do not appear till some time has passed.

No, it is not the case. It takes no time for WordPress to reflect the changes once you publish the post. I would suggest to recheck each concerned post for featured image.

Let me know if you need anything else.
