Photo blog-what text to add (title, caption etc)for search engines
-
HI,
I have a photoblog with little/virtually no text.
When I upload an image I have options for:
title
alternative title
catption
description
excerptI’m wondering what i should fill out to get a post/page higher up in search results? All of them?
How exactly do the search engines etc. rank posts with images- tags, title etc? Thanks,
Pa.The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

As far as I know Title, Categories and tags are more than info for photoblogs to indexed by google.

It would make sense to use tags and categories that describe your image. Details and specific words are more likely to attract people to your blog
For example, your category “Random” currently has 20 pages of blogs about “random” written within the last 24 hours. After only 5 hours, you are already back on page 5. Your blog is like a tree hidden in the forrest.

Search engines also look at “alternate text” and “description” and you really should add relevant information on those lines.

I agree with Tess. You ought to be infilling the title, alternate text, and description fields in for every image. Search engines do not have “eyes” and cannot “see” images. The infilling of text is required so your images are properly indexed by search engines.
