Photo Gallery

I’m trying to add photos to the Gallery on our website but it says they’re in Microsoft Office Document Imaging Format and WordPress can’t open them. However, if I try to convert them to tiff files it says such files already exist when they don’t! Any suggestions?

  • Hi there,

Please save your image in one of the formats listed below. The .tiff is not accepted.

Here’s some information about Images: https://en.support.wordpress.com/images/

    Accepted Image file types

You can upload the following image types to a post or page on your WordPress.com blog:

      .jpg/.jpeg
      .gif
      .png

Thanks for the reply but I’m not given the option of any of the file types you mention. I only get Microsoft Document Imaging Format or tiff options. I’m accessing the files via the “Computer”, “Local Disk” etc, route.
I’ve tried using Serif Photoplus X5 but that only gives me the option to save in Serif Photoplus Picture format (.Spp)

Hi there, were you able to resolve this? I do see images on your above site’s Gallery page.

If you are using a scanner to scan articles and suchlike, you’ll want to ensure that the output is one of the file formats that staff-eleanor mentioned in her above reply. Perhaps your scanner manual or its online support forum might better assist you with that.

Yes, I’ve put photos on the site in the past but am just having trouble with some that I scanned a few years ago. I’ll see if I can obtain the originals and scan them again. I had a different scanner back then! Thanks for your suggestions.
