Photo gallery display problem
-
Hello — Where previously my photo galleries were displayed in rows of 3, the size of the thumbnails appears to have changed. Now the galleries display in alternating rows of 2 and 1, which is unattractive and makes necessary much more scrolling to see them all. I’ve carefully picked photos in multiples of 3 for the past year in order to accommodate galleries with rows 3 photos long, and now all my galleries look messy. (This only happens with an older IE browser, which I have to use at work.)
Is anything to be done? I’ve forced a refresh, but nothing changed.

First off, we need a link to your blog, and perhaps an example of where it is working correctly and where it is not (post titles).
If you are talking about IE6, it is quickly being left in the dust by web development. I don’t know if staff are too concerned with IE6 at this point considering it only accounts for 17% of internet users as of March 2009 and is dropping very quickly: http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_stats.asp .

Link to your WordPress.COM blog, please, starting with http:// otherwise we can’t really see the problem and suggest solutions.
(congrats!)

I suddenly have the same problem/error.
for example / gallery below big picture and video
http://frafilm.wordpress.com/2008/12/21/siberian-transistor-woman-2008-edit/before there was some space between the pictures
now they appear to sit side by side if you know what I mean. So, something has changed.

My photos are now layered- this seemed to start happening when the gallery formatting changed.. Its enough to make me take my blog somewhere else, as its a photography blog.

scubascaff: thats the same error I get when posting a new gallery. Looks horrible!
WP: Please fix this !

The gallery bug reported nearly 8 months ago is apparently is being worked on. http://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/7678

Hm, my problem started just recently.
It worked fine before, but since a month back something happened.
Are we talking about the same problem?
Im confused -
@scubascaff, contact support directly on this issue. I see only one error (6 times) in your blog and it is regarding something I don’t think you have any control over:
Line 71, Column 25: document type does not allow element “style” here
<style type='text/css'>and when I search the source code on your blog, it appears right above galleries, so I think it may be an issue that staff will have to fix.
Give them this link http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fscubascaff.wordpress.com%2F&charset=(detect+automatically)&doctype=Inline&group=0 when you contact them. It shows the error and where it is occurring.

Oops, the link broke so here it is between backticks so it doesn’t break.

@tsp-If you take a look at that ticket mentioned above, it was reported 8 months ago, but worked on only within the past couple of weeks.
-
The thing is though that it seemed to have been gone for a while. I suspect that .COM had fixed it, but then some intervening upgrade made along the line overwrote the fix they had put into place.
