Photo gallery settings
-
I’m trying to insert a gallery into my blog. I read these how-to’s:
http://gammagirl.wordpress.com/2008/07/27/not-the-official-wordpresscom-gallery-faq/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/gallery/I can upload and save the pictures to the gallery, but I don’t have the option to insert a gallery or edit gallery settings. Please let me know what I’m doing wrong. Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

After you upload the photos to your post or page, in the Image Uploader click the button “Save Changes”. You should then see a tab marked “Gallery” in the Image Uploader. That’s where you’ll find the options and a button to insert it in your post or page.

thank you! I thought I tried that before, but it just worked when I tried. If I delete all the pictures in my media library to re-upload for the gallery, will i have to re-add them to my posts?

Great!
Maybe I don’t understand, but why do you want to delete the photos from the Media Library? Do you want them also to appear on a special Gallery page? Just use the Post ID number as mentioned at the bottom of my FAQ, which you linked to above (gammagirl).

Yes, sorry I’m not being more clear, I think I’m just confused! I have some pictures that I put into individual posts, the rest are unused and just sitting in the media library. I want to create a separate page that will display the pictures I put into the posts, as well as other pictures from my computer.
I was able to get it to upload pictures from the posts, but there are a few pictures that weren’t associated with posts, so those are not in there. Also, I read about how to change the order of the pictures, but is there a way to create separate albums within the main gallery for pictures that were not in posts together?
Also, if I change the caption of a picture in the gallery, will it change the caption in the post where the picture was, too?

1.) If the images sitting in the Media Library say “Unattached” you can attach them to a newly created Gallery Page. Directions for attaching images are here http://en.support.wordpress.com/media/unattached-files/
2.) Yes, as I explained above. To do this switch to the HTML Editor and use the Post ID in the Gallery shortcode. You might want to have a look at my example Gallery page. http://gammagirl.wordpress.com/galleries/
3.) Captions are image specific, so, yes (I think). http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/image-settings/
Hope that works for you. :-)
