Photo links

The pictures on my latest blog post are not linked correctly. When I click on an image to see it in a larger form, it comes up with a different image than I clicked on. I tried clearing my cache and in another browser and the same thing is happening. It is one image in particular that most of the photos are linked to.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Could you please send me a link to some images or posts where the problem is occurring, so I can best troubleshoot the issue? Also, please let me know which image is usually appearing in error when your links are clicked. Thank you!

There are lots of pictures in the post but the majority of the first pictures are linking with the pic of my baby girl coloring with a BIG SMILE :) haha

Aw, what a face! Adorable :)

What I see is that you added your images and chose for them to link to a custom URL. The problem is, of course, that they do not have the correct custom URL. I am not entirely certain why this occurred, to be honest. It can occur if a lot of editing/adding/deleting/moving of images takes place will you’re creating a Post. This isn’t your fault, it’s just that sometime a bit of code gets left behind. It’s a bit of a fluke that could be alleviated if you clear your cache and cookies before you do anymore adding to / editing of your site.

This document has advice for clearing away your browser’s cache:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache

Regarding those misdirected links: There are two ways to fix this.

First is to simply delete the images and then re-add them.

Second is to adjust the custom URL within the image. This is more labor-intensive, but if you’d rather take this approach, here are the steps:

    1. Click on an image that isn’t linking properly in your Post editor.
    2. When the small pencil icon appears in the upper left-hand corner of the image, click it.
    3. You will see a label “Custom URL” with a web address in the box below. You will want to change that to the correct URL. In order to do this, please open another tab in your browser.
    4. In your site’s Dashboard, click Media Library.
    5. Choose the image that you want to correct by clicking Edit.
    6. In the right-hand column, you’ll see a box labeled “File URL.” You must copy the entire URL in that box. It will be quite long.
    7. Paste that URL into the “Custom URL” tab in the original tab, replacing the incorrect URL
    8. Update the image.
    9. Update your post.

That’s it. It’ll have to be done for each image, however. I think deleting, and re-installing would be more efficient, but the second option will teach you about how to add end edit custom URLs. The choice is yours!

Let me know if you have any questions at all. If this happens in the future, please get in touch with us asap, so we can investigate if there’s a larger issue at hand. Many thanks!

Perfect! Thanks so much! I did do a lot of moving around of pictures, so I will be more conscientious of that in future posts.
