Photo not appearing in blog post email to subscribers

  Hi, I am setting the ‘featured image’ for my posts but the photo does not seem to show up in the email to subscribers…only an icon in its place. This is a problem as my post is about the photo! I pick the image and set as ‘featured image’ because i need to regenerate the size so I have to go this route. When I was adding the photo as ‘media’ it was showing up but the image was cut off. Thanks for any assistance you may be able to provide!
