Photo on 'about' page
-
Hi There,
I changed the name of my ‘About’ page and wrote something in the field. I also added a photo at the top. While I see the photo on the about page when I go to edit it, the photo is not visible when viewed regularly (i.e. by anyone other than me). What is going on here? I even wrote a note at the bottom of what the photo is of (although I realise now I can do this through the photo), but the photo isn’t shown!
I also am having trouble finding any of my content with google. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Go to http://paganvegansite.wordpress.com/wp-admin/upload.php There you can click the Add New link.
If you upload lots of media including images you can exhaust your free space allocation quickly. Currently, the only way to get an extra space allocation after you upload the images again, is to purchase an upgrade bundle. https://en.support.wordpress.com/space-upgrade/
re: images
For accepted file types for uploading see here http://en.support.wordpress.com/accepted-filetypes/
Are you running a browser and version of it found at http://browsehappy.com? If not, upgrade.
Have you tried dragging an image straight from your desktop or computer’s image folder and drop it directly into your post’s editor?
If you prefer you can click on the Add Media button from the toolbar of your editor to upload an image to your post.
See: https://en.support.wordpress.com/images/adding-images-to-posts-or-pages/
For uploading images into posts and pages see here http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/adding-images-to-posts-or-pages/
For using the new editor for this see the instructions Staff ie. supernovia provided here https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/images-arent-clickable-any-more?replies=15#post-2530659

Thanks for your quick reply.
However….
I am using a macbook. The photo IS in my image library. It even shows at the top of the page when I go to edit the page (but not on viewing the page). All the other photos I have posted since (and before) show just fine, no matter where in the page they are. But I wanted this one as a header, not within the text…. (something the “about page” seems to do).
I have lots of images, but have only used 7.5% of my space so far. This was the second image I ever uploaded.
It is a jpeg, and all my other photos (also jpegs) have worked fine with the browser I am using, and with the same file format, from the same source, on all of my posts, just not on the “about” page.
So, although I appreciate your assistance, staff may be key : )
Thanks

Go to http://paganvegansite.wordpress.com/wp-admin/upload.php and tell me how much space you have left.
Then post the URL of the image here and also post the URL of the Page you refer to.

Oops! I just saw this:
I have lots of images, but have only used 7.5% of my space so far. This was the second image I ever uploaded.
Please post the URL of the image here and also post the URL of the Page you refer to.
-
It is now at 8%….
The specific page is: https://paganvegansite.wordpress.com/contact/about/
The image URL? I don’t understand. It is my own photo and in my image library.
-
Every image in your Media Library has a URL. Please provide enough information to be able to determine which image there you are referring to.
Let’s ask Staff to assist you with sorting this out. I will type modlook into the sidebar tags on this thread for Staff help. How do I get a Moderator/Staff reply for my question? https://en.support.wordpress.com/getting-help-in-the-forums/#how-do-i-get-a-moderatorstaff-reply-for-my-question Subscribe to this thread so you are notified when they respond and be patient while waiting. To subscribe look in the sidebar of this thread, find the subscribe to topics link and click it.

I am subscribed and thought all I needed to do was type #modlock, which I did.
It is called my ‘Featured Image’ but I am the only one who can see it!
I found the image URL: https://paganvegansite.files.wordpress.com/2016/04/fiddle_close.jpg
Thanks for your help!

Thanks for the URL.
Tagging for Staff removed as the image is HUGE (as themagicrobot pints out) and needs to be deleted from your Media Library first. Then you need to use an image editor to make a made smaller one prior to uploading it.
You can optimize https://en.support.wordpress.com/media/image-optimization/ and re-size it in either a desktop image editing software https://en.support.wordpress.com/media/image-optimization/#image-editing-software or online image editing software https://onecoolsite.wordpress.com/2009/11/28/ten-free-online-image-compression-and-optimzation-programs/ to fit the space you intend to use it in.
Note dimensions on your detailed themes description page at https://wordpress.com/themes/penscratch/

@paganvegansite Just to satisfy my own curiosity, how many images do you have in your Media Library to have used 8% of the space? (I have used 12% of my allocation and have over 800 images). Those other .png image files on your site are quite large too.
@timethief You were right first time. I’m just going now for a pint (of Guinness).

You can think of it as a Freudian slip if you will, but the truth is that it’s morning here and I did not spellcheck. lol :D
-
I guess will I will make all my images smaller and repost or smaller from now on (I only have about 40).
However, I just took the photo in question down to 500 KB and it still won’t post…
-
@paganvegansite. Are you still trying to put it in the header, rather than the body of the post/page?
@timethief And I made a stupid error too! Its the posts that are +800. Images are at +2300 for the 12% of Media Library. Keep up the good work. Must go. The pub beckons. It used to be a computer-free haven once upon a time but now people (not me) there are still tapping away on their phones.
-
OK, so I put it in the text. Why can’t I set a “Featured Image” if it offers me one?
Anyway, thanks all.
-
Go to this theme page https://wordpress.com/themes/penscratch/ Note the Features column there please and notice that featured images are not a theme feature in Penscratch.
