Photo problem

    When I post a caption below my photos, it never – ever – shows up. Why not?

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hello,

    Would you mind linking to a specific page or post that’s exhibiting the problem?

    Cheers!

    It never shows the caption, regardless of whether I try to post a feature photo or a photo within the post.

    I should also mention that you are welcome to delete that test Post, once you’re done looking at it. Cheers!

    I can see it on your test post, but it never works when I try to do it.

    Joshua, Instead of requiring you to adjust the settings for each and every photo you add, if you’d like to center your captions, please to the following:

    1. Click Appearance → Customize. Then click on CSS in the right-hand menu.
    2. In the CSS Revisions box, beneath the code you’ve already added, please paste the following:

      .wf-active .wp-caption p, .wf-active .wp-caption-text {
      text-align: center;
      }

    3. Save your changes.

    That should do it. Now your captions should automatically default to center.

    Please let us know if you have any other questions. Thanks much and happy blogging!

    Um – the problem I’m having isn’t that I can’t get the caption centered, it’s that captions never appear.

    Joshua, I am very sorry for the confusion. Whenever I add images to your site, I am able to see the captions. Because I cannot recreate the problem on my end, I need you to do the following so I can test the issue:

    1. Click on Appearance → Customize. Click on CSS in the right-hand menu.
    2. Paste the following into the CSS Revisions Box:

      .wp-caption p, .wp-caption-text, .gallery-caption {
      font-style: italic;
      color: #888;
      }

    3. Save your changes.
    4. Click Media → Add New. Upload a new image to your library. Do not add captions/titles to the image.
    5. Go to Posts → Add New. Add the new photo to a new post directly, rather than in the Featured Images box.
    6. Click once on the image in your Post. Click on the pencil icon that appears in the upper left-hand corner of your image. Add your caption and title.
    7. Make sure any changes you’ve made are saved.
    8. You can save this as a draft, if you prefer not to publish anything today.
    9. Clear your cache and cookies.

      If you need guidance on the cache/cookie clearance process, take a look at this link:

      http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clear-your-cache-and-cookies

    10. After you look at your post again, please let me know what you’re seeing. Send me a link to the post so I can compare what I am seeing to what you view.

    Thanks for your patience, Joshua. We’ll get this ironed out for you. All the best.

    Ugh. That sounds really, really complicated. I’ll just live without captions.
