Photo Protection
-
I added a photo to my webpage – Backstory. I’d like to give it as much privacy protection as possible, with features that seem to already be incorporated with the banner image. These would include: disabling any sort of right click access to the photo, no information provided as the cursor moves over the image, and the inability to highlight the banner image for copying. I’ve already de-activated the snap shot feature. What else can can I do to protect privacy and minimize ease with copying the image (as was done with the banner image).
Will wordpress.com be giving us more capacity to make inserted images as protected as the banner images used?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

disabling any sort of right click access to the photo
This is not possible at wordpress.com and it’s useless in any event because it’s easy to get around and only creates a false sense of security.
no information provided as the cursor moves over the image
This isn’t possible at wordpress.com. in any event all savvy bloggers give all their images the full treatment so they are optimized for search engines and bring in hits.
The most effective way to protect one’s images from theft is to watermark and/or hide them and to post copyright notices.

greenpetburial,
You might also want to give this a try.

You can use either the Monotone or Duotone themes; either of these will disable right-click copy. Those are the only ones that do.
You’re only hurting yourself by refusing to put alt text on your images, though. People can’t use it to steal images with.
You might consider making your blog private and/or invisible to search engines.

Thanks for all your help – time to investigate these options. Meanwhile, I do want these pages to be open to all, maybe I’ll just use a different photo.

You’re welcome and best wishes with your blog. BTW I feel the same way you do about pet burials and every one of my pets has been buried right here on my own property (ie. a large property in a country setting.)

thank you for the support. you are fortunate to have beautiful property in such a setting – and blessed with your pets memories.
