Photo size in blog entries

  How can I make my photos upload in their original size? I’m clicking original size, not thumbnail, but they still come out really low resolution so there’s no point in posting them because no-one can see them. The only other way I know about is in the slideshow, and I don’t always want my picture moving around that fast. Thanks
