Photo thumbnail size in Oxygen
-
I’m thinking of switching to the Oxygen theme, but the default shape of the photo thumbnails in Oxygen cuts off too much of the height of my photos and looks awful. Is there a way through CSS to change the height of the thumbnails to something closer to my camera’s aspect ratio? Thanks!

To clarify, are you referring to the featured image that appears above a post on your blog home page?
You can see more details about the Oxygen theme here:

Yes, I’m referring to the featured image that shows above the recent posts on the home page and the archive (category, tag, etc…) pages. It’s a weird sliver that cuts off too much.

Thanks for your reply. I found this forum thread where Sheri says:
images themselves are probably loaded as a set width in the Oxygen slider and you may be able to adjust the dimensions using CSS but you cannot change the dimensions of the images as they are loaded in. Because of this, it will probably look the best to leave the images as is.
So, my best suggestion is to have another image — specifically sized (470 x 140) — for the featured image so it’ll display the area of the photo you want.
You can resize an existing image with the steps here:
