Photo Widget (not flickr) please!

It would be really incredible if there was a sidebar widget in which we could post photos with text and a link. Not a rotating flickr style widget, but a static widget, controlled by the blogger. For example, say someone wanted to let the world know what she’s reading. In the photo widget she could post a photo of the book, add the title and author in the text block, and maybe give a link to buy the book at Powell’s or AbeBooks or something. Or say she wanted to highlight a recipe that a friend made over on her foodblog, she could post a picture of the dish, give the recipe name and then link back to it. or maybe she would want to link to her other blog, set it off from the mass of the blogroll, she could post a picture from the blog, put the title of the blog in the text box, and then link to her blog.
see, now wouldn’t that be useful?
    Thanks!

You can do that right now with a text widget if you know how to do the code. Let me dig up my old instructions: they’re around somewhere.

Here, this is the simplest way:

well I’ll be a bad code writer then!
I’ve tried that before, but I guess I had something flukey in my code
sorry for not looking hard enough before post, but thanks for the info.

    alright, one more.
So I just tried it, and the padding isn’t great, even with break tags, the text and photo smush up into whatever’s above and below. I still think a dedicated widget would be wonderful.
But, I’ll keep it in mind, thanks for the info.

Don’t forget to fill the title space with words: I find it gives just enough breathing room in my sidebar.
