Photoblog Themes For WordPress.com

Could you please consider adding a photoblog theme for all the photoblogs on WordPress.com? A nice place to look for some of the good ones (Nautilus, Polaroid, Grain) is at http://style.photojaunt.com/top-ten-best-photoblog-themes-and-templates/

The procedure for asking for a new theme to be introduced is to send in a feedback to staff on Monday including the url to the player you are requesting and your reasons for requesting it. :)

But posting here with the suggestion is fine. Staff just keeps tabs of what gets suggested via feedback and, if you send it in, you make sure they are aware of it. You can drum up support this way of course.
Which one of those do you like and why?
(Not that I’m taking note for the Site That Must Not be Named or anything….)
I’ve read the article but I would like to sit down and look at the themes. Gotta admit that I’m rather surprised to see 10 of them actually. Most photoblog designers sit on their designs and don’t release them.

Are you looking for one with a light or dark background? This is the link to the wordpress.org themeviewer http://themes.wordpress.net/
Perhaps you will find one there that you like. But do note that wordpress.com runs on different software than wordpress.org so the theme would have to be adapted to run on the multi-user software here. -
drmike: Thanks for the prompt response. The link I mentioned has 10 themes out of which only 3 (Nautilus, Polaroid, Grain) are WordPress mods. Others are Pixelpost themes. I liked all 3 of them due to their black/white color scheme. I’ll send out a support email to the WP group on Monday. Thanks again.
timethief: I was requesting a theme specially for photoblogs which displays a single image and thumbnails. Could not find any on the themeviewer. I would prefer a black/white/grey theme.

It’s too bad you couldn’t find one on the themeviewer. But not really surprising as it was a shot in the dark. :)

drmike, timethief: Wrote a support mail today and got a reply back that only if there is enough demand for the themes, it would be considered. Should I run a poll to see how many people would be interested in having photoblog themes? sonofbruce is one.

Nah, but you can blog about it on your site to drum up support. Also folks searching the forums for photoblogs here will note this thread and be sure to send in a feedback throwing in their support on the request.

I doubt they would listen to a poll since polls could be manipulated (not saying you would do that just that it could be done). The way that support gauges demand is how many feedback’s/support emails they get regarding a subject. There have been several threads on the subject. Problem is that people read them, then add a post to the thread saying something like “good idea. me too!” and it’s left at that. If you started a new thread stating your idea, what themes you like, with links, and clearly state that anyone interested should send in a feedback it may work depending on the response (edit: dont know if you can modify the original post on this thread though)
p.s. Finding some themes that would work on wordpress and putting links to them is a big plus pushing it along. Here are some past threads:

I have a photoblog and a theme geared toward that would be great. The one I’m currently using is ok.. but I’d love to have a better one. I know there are a lot of photoblogs out there and I’m sure they would love a photoblog theme too.

Use the blue support tab in the top right of your dashboard when support is open (9a-5p Pacific M-F) and include a link to the one you would like to see added, along with why you want it.

It has been way too long since this post and in the mean time several new themes have been released but not a single one as requested here. I will probably have to go to aminus3 for my blog.
All we need is a simple black (dark) theme which shows just one photo and a “previous” and “next” button or arrow or a thumbnail. I really love wordpress but this is really limiting me in using it for my photoblog.
