Photobucket to add WordPress to supported blogs List
-
I sent an email to Photobucket requesting they add WordPress to the blogs they support. I just received a reply that Photobucket is indeed adding WordPress to their support blogs list. If you use Photobucket and WordPress please let them know their efforts are appreciated.
Photobucket is a great place to host photos and videos. Check them out. I’ve used Photobucket for a while now and enjoy the service.
PS
I also have a flickr account.

Thanks but you did tell them to add support for WordPress.COM blogs, not just WordPress blogs, right? There is a difference. Just like Sitemeter supports regular wordpress blogs but has to handle wordpress.com ones differently.
-
I don’t understand the significance of this: I’ve been using Photobucket for years and noticed no difference in the useability when I moved over to WordPress.
I must say I have reservations about Photobucket, having had some nasty experiences with the customer-service side. What advantage does this “supported blog” status confer, exactly?

Thought I’d just weigh-in on this little Photobucket thingo…. was wondering how come either/and/or Photobucket and the WordPress.com techs/people-in-charge, haven’t actually got to the point of consolidating some effective arrangement for their users/members to readily embed their images, and use in postings more efficiently, on a similar par with Flickr, and other slide, video, music services/hosts that seem to be coming on board with Wp.com, in recent months?
With Photobucket running somewhere nearly 40mill members (apparently), one would think that having a similar “relationship” of cooperation as that with (Yahoo) Flickr would be a natural expectation? -
*shrug* Ask them directly via feedback from your dashboard.
Gotta admit though that Photobucket isn’t high on my list of favorite sites.
-
I’m still not understanding the issue. You get the code when you upload your images; you copy the code, you paste it in your blog. What functionality are you looking for that hasn’t already been provided?
-
I think teh poster is wanting it to post directly to their wp.com blog. Click on a button over there and see it over here type thing.
-
There are numerous “widgets” that integrate with image services, ‘automatically’ when used on sidebars in WP.com, these ‘partnerships, make live-feeds and streaming, much easier to implement/use for bloggers… Flickr is a good example… I was hopping that WP.com would form such a “partnership” with Pbucket, as it has with numerous other commercial players that use media as their foundational purpose.
Try finding a “plugin” on google that fits this, and I’ll leave it at that, and be grateful to know of any?. -
@daod
Just to be clear on this we do not use plug-ins on wordpress.com blogs.
http://faq.wordpress.com/2005/10/27/can-i-upload-my-own-plugins/You cannot upload your own plugins for security reasons. If there is a plugin that you feel is a must-have and would benefit users on the site then fill in the Support form on your blog! Tell us what plugin you want, where it can be downloaded and most importantly, why you think it should be included in the site. All the feedback is read, and we’re collecting the most numerous requests for implementation.

oh yea this is great. to be able to use photobucket on wordpress. things are going to get so much more easier! thx!

Still don’t seem to be supported. You can post photots, but cannot post photobucket slideshows etc…

@recordedbooks
Have you checked out the slideshows that are supported here? http://faq.wordpress.com/2007/03/31/can-i-have-a-slideshow/

Yes I had, but since it seemed that photobucket was supported, I made a slideshow with them first :(
Kind of odd that they support photos from photobucket, but not the other stuff.Now I am using slide.com, since you can import photobucket pics to use there. That was a bit of a pain to figure out (why would the make the font SO tiny to get the wordpress non-div code??), but I finally did. If others are wondering about slide.com code – see https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=16723&page&replies=10

@recordedbooks
I’m glad you were able to work with slide.com and I want to thank you for sharing how to do so with other bloggers.
Happy blogging :) -
The issue here is that their slideshows and other nifty tools don’t work on WordPress. Just still photos. For example, try posting something like this post to WordPress:
http://fastpagemode.blogspot.com/2007/12/dianetics-book-thon-in-la_15.htmlYou’ll just get the HTML links at the bottom, but the nifty slideshow will be vaporised.

EllaElla — thanks for this. I saw some other people’s posts which said just about the same thing, so ended up taking out a Slide.com account and re-created my slideshows on Slide. That seemed to work okay: http://bookathon.wordpress.com/2007/12/15/dianetics-book-a-thon-in-la-slide-show/
Unfortunate that I couldn’t get my Photobucket items to work, but c’est la vie — I imagine support for this will be programmed eventually.
