Photographs disappearing

My photographs for certain posts will show up at times and at other times there is simply an empty box where the photograph should be. Also the tab “Post” is not working for our viewers to click on. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you very much.

Thank you so much for your help and reply. I will try the recommended remedies. The URL is http://thomastonupsonarchives.wordpress.com/. It is strange that all other tabs are available except for the “Post” tab. Again, thank you so much and I will try the suggestions.

I tried the remedies and unfortunately everything as far as browser, cookies, etc. were as they should be but the blog is still doing the same thing such as, not displaying all photos as well as the “Post” tab at the top is not working. I have contacted a few followers and the same thing is happening on their computers as it is on mine. For this reason I think it may be a wordpress issue. Hi there – The Posts tab isn’t working, because you have to select your Posts page as the posts page from the dropdown menu in Settings->Reading here:

The only broken image I see on my end is the first one in this page:

http://thomastonupsonarchives.files.wordpress.com/2013/10/thomaston-bottle-works.jpgIt’s likely that you inserted it into the page and later deleted it from your Media Library. You’ll need to upload it to the post again.

Thank you so much for your suggestions. It turns out that the photographs were not in my media but I do not remember deleting them but perhaps I did.
However, the option to choose my post to show in the drop down box is not there from the page of Settings. The odd thing is, is that the post tab was working before, until some time last week. I am so sorry to bother you and if you have any suggestion please let me know. I hope you have a great day. -

Thank you so much for your advice. I went in and changed the “Posts” page to publish rather than draft but this still did not fix the problem. As a result, I created a new page titled “Stories” and chose to publish it and then went to settings and chose “Stories” as the page for posts. I then went and deleted my page titled posts. However, “Stories” does not show up on the top bar but for some reason “Posts” still does but it will still not let me click on the word posts. I hope this is not too confusing and I am very grateful for your help. If you have any suggestions we would be very grateful. I hope you have a great day.

I have discovered one more problem since my last reply at 10:29 AM Nov. 21, 2013. My first question was dealing with photographs missing and I have found that many more are still missing and I know that I did not delete them from the media library. One for instance, is “Upson County Gold” and yesterday there were a few photos missing from the post but today all of them were. When I checked my media library there were missing from there as well. I am wondering what may be causing this as I know I am not manually deleting them. Do I have too many or is there another action that may cause this that I do not realize is causing this? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.

Hi there – You also needed to delete the Posts tab and add the Stories to your Custom Menu here:
https://thomastonupsonarchives.wordpress.com/wp-admin/nav-menus.phpI went ahead and did that for you, and it’s working now. If you want to check the box there for “Automatically add new top-level pages to this menu” next time you add a new page, you won’t have to manually also add it to your menu.
For the image issue, there’s not any reason why your images would be automatically deleted. I can see using our internal tools that you deleted a lot of media files two weeks ago, and again three weeks ago, etc. I’m not sure exactly what happened. I don’t suppose there’s any way you might have accidentally selected all images by checking the box at the top here and chose ‘permanently delete’ without realizing it?

As much detail as you can provide about your activity on the blog prior to when you noticed that would be helpful in figuring out what’s going on. :)
