Photography & Blogging
-
I am using Modularity Lite as a photo and journalism blog. I am doing quite a bit of writing. I am having a problem with huge gaps of space between the images I have posted and the text I am writing. I don’t want to have thumbnail images as I want to highlight the photos as much as the words. Can anyone help me with this?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi. Would you please provide the URL of a post or page where the problem occurs?
I’m asking because your blog loads very slowly for me (even with a high speed connection) because you have so many images on your front page. When you have a moment, I recommend that you reduce the number of posts per page and/or use the “more” tag.

I have a highspeed connection solely dedicated to this computer. I agree with airodyssey. IMO the blog has far too many posts with too many large images in them on the front page. More to the point is that page loading time is a pageranking factor. Many people are on dial-up service and that ought to be considered IMO.“The explosion of broadband is limited to a handful of countries that include the US, Australia, Canada and Japan. In great Britain, for example, broadband connections account for only about one percent of the residential Internet market. By most estimates, and these are very conservative, there will be a healthy market for dial-up residential and small business accounts for years to come.” — Dave McClure, President, US Internet Industry Association
I viewed your blog using two browsers. Firefox efox 3.6.13 and IE8. I cannot see any “gaps” or spaces bewtteen images and text.
Which browser and version of it are you using please? Have you force cleared your bowser cache and cookies?
- You could have a browser issue so try changing your browser settings, refreshing the page, or clearing the browser cache and cookies – instructions for specific browsers.
- Note that when you make adjustments to your browser settings — changing privacy settings, deleting cookies or increasing security — you will need to close your window and restart the browser before those new settings become effective.
FWIW I cannot even read the dark green and dark blue font against the black background without experiencing eye strain. If you expect to have readers who are aged over 40 years then you may want to consider that some will experience the same difficulty when it comes to reading the text.

Thank you both for replying to my question. I finally resolved the issue by putting my photos at the end of my blog instead of trying to intersperse them into the middle of my words.
Airodyssey, I reduced the number of my posts to one per page. I’ve been trying to figure out how to do that and I finally did, so thank you for that. Aside from utility, I like the way one post per page looks as opposed to several per page.
Timethief, I will take your suggestions about the font color into consideration. I certainly want as many ppl viewing my blog as possible and not being turned away because of long loading times, and difficult to read fonts, so thank you for your recommendation.
Best to both of you and thanks for taking the time to reply.
