Photolia theme gallery & blog post type graphics

I’ve tried searching for a more thorough guide for the Photolia theme, but all I’ve found is this: https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/photolia/support/. Is there not a more thorough guide? I have a few specific questions:
1) the photo gallery option is not showing up well — the format is pretty weird with the portrait vs landscape photos (there is awkward spacing between them), and it doesn’t look that way on the demo; has more of a masonry look. (see demo site here: https://photoliademo.wordpress.com/)
2) the “post type” (i.e. gallery, quote, audio, etc.) light gray graphics are not showing up next to posts (see them in the theme demo)Thanks,
