Photos are unpredictable sizes. The same photo can remain either tiny or suddenly blow up out of proportion to the body of the text. They are not all the same in the same post. How can I control this and get the size I want? An example is the post on Fruits and Vegetables at https://sarahbowmansite.wordpress.com/2021/04/01/fruits-and-vegetables/. There are four photos, all mine from my hard drive, but only the photo of the carrots is ‘right’ for size. The others are too big.

Hi there,
thank you for providing an example, Sarah.> How can I control this and get the size I want?
I believe that resizing the images is what you are looking for. To resize an image, click it to reveal the resize handles that look like blue dots around the image. Then, click on a resize handle and drag the image to your desired size. For further information on this see here:

Looks like you got two answers at the same time. I too can confirm these images were added as paragraphs. I’m not sure how that happened, but I’d recommend just removing that block, then inserting the image fresh. Try selecting Image or typing /image to make sure you have the right block type selected.

Thank you, everyone. With this information I figured out how to insert photos with the block editor. Previously, the only method I could find was “inline image.” Just now I made a test post How to Add Photos at https://sarahbowmansite.wordpress.com/2021/04/02/how-to-add-photos/. For the first two photos I used image block, and for the last one I used inline image. The inline image (paragraph block) blew up way too large when I posted. How do I control its size?

Can you help me understand why you’re using inline image? We might have a better alternative.

Couple reasons:
1. a. I don’t know how to post pictures with block editor. I always had classical editor, then WordPress changed it.
b. Now you guys explained how to do it. Thank you.
2. I suppose inline image button is there to be used. Maybe tomorrow I want to write an article around a photo. Or with a photo in the top corner. How do I do that? How do I control the size of the photo for that?

For inline images, I find it best to add the image block above the text you want it to be in, then aligning the image block left or right, as depicted in the GIF at https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/image-block/#align-images

Thank you very much, everyone. This is so much more fun if I can make my posts look nice.
