Photos are desaturated on my blog
-
Hey all,
I’m a photographer, and I just set this up. My photos, however, appear desaturated quite a bit, and very “grayish”. But if you click on them, to go to the individual view, they’re perfect. What is up with this? I can’t have my photos only looking good if people click on them.
Thanks

You are uploading your images very large and then relying on wordpress and the browser to resize the images. That will always give you lower quality.
Upload two images. One the extact width dimension in pixels required for “full-sized” for your blog post area, and then the original. Insert the sized image into the post and then link it to the full-sized image when you insert it into the post.
Also, make sure that when you prepare your images for the web that they are saved in sRGB color space and not Adobe RGB. Adobe RGB is for print media and will always look washed out on the web.

They come out looking fine when you click through, so i’m pretty sure i have sRGB.
What do you mean “link it to the full sized image”? So get the link form the full size, and make it when you click on the image it goes to the big guy?’
thanks buddy

The thing is with as big as the image are that you are uploading, you will always lose a lot of quality when you rely on wordpress and the browser to resize them.

oh btw, i’m not linking it to the larger photo, because then it skips the screen where viewers can easily make photos, plus the size it’s at right now is fine.

Yeah, that is a better way to do things. Too many people on the internet think that anything posted on the internet is theirs for the taking.

I have watermarks on mine, and now they can comment on them easier.
Thanks! While you’re there, you may as well check out my art ;). haha thanks man -
