Photos click away to other page…
-
I have a large mosaic photo at the top of each page on my blog, and I’ve noticed that if you scroll over them, it often works like a mouse click and exits the page to a white page with just the photo. It’s really annoying if you’re trying to scroll around.
Why does this happen? Is there any way to stop it? I’ve tried to think of a workaround, and the only one I can figure out is to link each photo with its own page, so it brings you back to the page you’re on after it loads. Any ideas? (I’m not talking about the thumbnails that are intentionally linked to other pages, just the large mosaic photo at the top)

Hi, back again :)
You know, something has changed. I am certain that these were NOT set to Media, and now, as I load new photos in, even if I set them to None, the next photo defaults back to Media. The tutorial says that they will default to None, and that’s what they all used to do.
What could have caused the entire blog to change? I’ve had many of those photos in there a year, and they were never set like this before.

I don’t know.
BTW, I tagged this thread for Staff assistance.
Be patient while waiting. :) -
Did you just get a new computer? The behavior you describe sounds like what happens when navigation settings are set to “open on hover” or something similar. Personally, I hate that setting, for exactly the reason you describe.
The work around galois gave you works because it makes the images un-clickable, but it would be way less work to make sure it’s not a setting on your computer first.

Under your apple menu, open system preferences. From there you should see a mouse option, and maybe a trackpad option if you have one. Open which ever one you see and look for a “tap to open” or “hover to open” option and uncheck it.
I don’t have a mac with your operating system, so I’m not sure what your settings look like exactly, but that should get you close.
Let me know if that helps.

Just checked, it’s set properly for tapping, and as I thought about it, it’s only that the photos open upon clicking, not upon hovering. I stayed up late last night and changed 1/3, will do the rest this eve…. :) :P

There is no universal setting for this, but your site will remember your preference. So when you add a new image and set it to link “none” the next image will do the same. If you have an image that you want to have a link in it and change the setting, the next image will have the same setting until you switch it back.
-
Sadly, that isn’t happening… even as I add new photos to the site and change to None every time, each next photo comes ups as Media. I’ve tried changing them in varied venues to see if it would make a difference, it doesn’t.
-
You are trying to update photos that you’ve already added to posts, or are you adding new photos?
-
I’ve finished resetting all the photos that were already on the site, and now I’ve been adding only new photos. I have to change it from Media to None for every one.
-
Very strange. I wasn’t able to replicate that on my test site. Could you outline the steps you are using to add new images. I want to make sure we are following the same process.
