Photos coming up blank?

  • Unknown's avatar

I’m a Sky user in the UK and I can’t see my blog images. I’m just trying to write a post with a load of photos in it it’s very frustrating. I really hope this can be fixed, can someone tell me where to complain to at Sky?

    @designsimply

That’s a start thanks. I think most of us if not all of us just want to know if this is a fixable problem and if so, when and is it likely to happen again. If we get the answers to that then this will make the decision to move away from Sky or not a lot easier.

For people in the same boat as me, what is your advice about switching ISP without being left without broadband for an extended period?

    Any advice appreciated.

Keep in mind that it’s 1) never a good idea to make assumptions when it comes to internet connection troubles and 2) support may not always be the ones to get the answers first. But, asking for help (and being patient if you can) is always a good idea, so ask Sky for help. :)

I’m not sure I’m with the conspiracy theorists on this one, I just believe (and hope) it is a technical problem. I have spoken to Sky as many others have and like them found them extremely unhelpful, denying all knowledge of this being an issue. I think someone from an organisation such as your own will stand more chance of getting an answer from them than any of us mere mortals.

Your help on this is greatly appreciated and any updates are very welcome.

    :)

Well I contacted Sky Customer services and their Complaints department. I hope they can fix this soon, otherwise I will just have to find another ISP. I want my pictures to work!

I hope WordPress understand the importance of this issue. The inability to see our own images renders our bogs virtually unusable. I cannot see any of my Media Library, for example. I cannot even see the header image on my own blog.

Same problem here – haven’t been able to view an image since mid week – and my media library is blank. Strangely, when I network my blog through to facebook, the image is visible. But of course, when you click through from facebook to my blog, there’s no image.

Hope Sky sort this out soon . . .

I think we just need to collectively keep up the pressure on them guys. Two calls each a day and eventually they will have to listen. Particularly if we orchastrate a campaign which culminates in us all asking for MAC codes on the same day within the same half an hour.

I’m tempted to leave this until the end of the week at the latest. Would anyone be prepared to get involved in this if it isn’t fixed? They obviously know how to fix it as they fixed it the other day.

I am a Sky internet user also and haven’t seen my images for a couple of days. However, for me anyways, my images work if i link from an URL. For the time being before this issue is resolved it might be worthwhile uploading your images to a photo hosting site and using the link tool instead. A bit of a hassle i know and I too shall be complaining to Sky to sort it out. Does anyone know if WordPress is pressuring Sky as well?

    @laughinghard…..

Can you (or anyone else) suggest a suitable place to host the images?

I’d like to give this workaround a try.

    Many thanks

  • Unknown's avatar

Exactly the same problem for me. Will Sky be able to fux this?

  • Unknown's avatar

OK I have read some more on the sky forum and some sky users on lowest package can access

also can access through anonymouse.org on my broadband. do not like to think this is a deliberate block but got to say as time goes on it appears to be. I work in IT support and when you hear no news it is usually a deliberate action and not a ‘technical error’

  • Unknown's avatar

    @ laughinghard

They have put a ‘sticky’ thread up at the top as an outstanding issue but so far have heard nothing from Sky. They did also take the original ‘resolved’ away from the title of this thread so they are aware of it.

I still think this is a technical not a blocking issue, it is worth seeing what happens tomorrow I think as the weekend hasn’t helped and they did fix it for a short term on Friday.

I am having the same problms with images not loading on my blog. I am also with Sky in the UK. This is very frustrating!!

  • Unknown's avatar

I’ve just gone through anonymouse too, everything fine. Just that you can’t get in to edit from there but you can check that others can view your images ok. Not ideal but an option until Sky buck their ideas up.

i’m a sky broadband unlimited customer. I’m also an IT Tech, and at work I have access to the internet from around 15 different sites all around the world, so I will test this out tomorrow. of those 15 sites, there’s at least 5 different ISPs that supply those connections, so that will definately confirm this issue.

I have logged a complaint with Sky already, so we’ll see what happens

    @ rowbinet

Great stuff, we need someone like you on board here.

    My site: http://rowbinet.wordpress.com

tested on Sky Broadband Unlimited – some pictures don’t load, others will
tested Masergy Internet in the UK – all ok
tested Embratel in Rio, Brazil – all ok
tested through an internet proxy service provided by Scansafe – all ok
tested through Optus Internet in Australia – all ok
tested through KRNIC Internet in Seoul, Korea – All ok.

So it’s really starting to look like it’s Sky’s service that has a problem.

another point to make is that often when I do a google images search, I often see some result images come from wordpress. so it’s really going to affect general browsing if Sky don’t get this fixed soon.
