Photos disappear from the theme home page …
-
On the Gateway theme I want to post an introduction with a photo. No matter how I show the photo (uploaded to WordPress or hard coded to my own hosting), the theme strips out the photo. How do I prevent this? Thanks.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The image is the media library of http://mvguides.com. Are you trying to add the image to a post or page in that website, which is not a WordPress.com site, or the site https://mvguides.wordpress.com/? The answer is important because this forum is solely for issues regarding WordPress.com accounts and websites.

No I simply tried to add the photo both from the media library AND via an html reference … the latter is preferable from the standpoint of managing the size of the image(s) but that was not the cause of the problem.

No I simply tried to add the photo both from the media library…
You want to add the photo to https://mvguides.wordpress.com/, right? But the image URL you provided above is from the site http://mvguides.com/, which is not a WordPress.com site. Is the image presently in the media library of https://mvguides.wordpress.com/?
AND via an html reference…
I don’t know what that means.
You may add a “modlook” tag to the sidebar of this topic to call for staff attention.

If I add the image via the media library, it disappears.
If I add the image via an html reference, it disappears.
I just showed you the image reference as information.

http://mvguides.com is hosted by GoDaddy.com, not by WordPress.COM and we do not prove support for it here.
It is is a WordPress.ORG software and here is the WHOIS: Click Here
IP Address: 107.180.2.50
Name Servers:
ns76.domaincontrol.com
ns75.domaincontrol.comAs that site is not hosted here at WordPress.COM, our support docs are not relevant, and you are posting to the wrong support forum.
WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG account, then click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, https://wordpress.org/support/register.php so you can post to the support forums there.
Resetting your WordPress.ORG password http://codex.wordpress.org/Resetting_Your_Password
WordPress.org support docs are at https://codex.wordpress.org/Main_Page -
P.S. If you are trying to hotlink to images found in http://mvguides.com/ and expecting them to display in https://mvguides.wordpress.com/ or visa versa that’s a no go.

HELLO? Let’s start again. I tried to add the image to the Media Library and it disappeared. I tried to add it as a link as an alternative. The Media Library image disappeared What caused that to happen?

@ jimmountainclimber,
You originally said,No matter how I show the photo (uploaded to WordPress or hard coded to my own hosting), the theme strips out the photo.
The decription is rather vague. We don’t know which website you are referring to, when the image gets stripped, what action causes it to get stripped, etc. So I tried to begin with identifying which website you were referring to. I tried to establish first which media library the image was/is in when you’ve attempted to add to the image to something. I gather that you’ve been trying to add it to an introductory post or page, but we also haven’t been told specifically where you’ve been trying to add it to.
As a response to my questions as to where (in which website, post or page) you wanted to add the image, you said,No I simply tried to add the photo both from the media library…
From the media library. So, we’ve confirmed that it is, or was, in a media library, but we still don’t know which media library you mean, because it’s obviously in the http://mvguides.com media library, but questions regarding that site should be addressed elsewhere, as I’ve made clear above. So I asked again, politely, which media library are you referring to. You again don’t respond directly to my questions, but provide a list of actions you’ve taken and results encountered. Among them is
If I add the image via the media library, it disappears.
Okay. That suggests that when you attempt to add an image from the media library (which media library remains unknown) it disappears from the post or page, perhaps after updating. I’m speculating because the description “it disappears” is rather vague. Where does it disappear from, and at what point during the attempt to embed it does it disappear?
Finally, in your latest post, you say,I tried to add the image to the Media Library and it disappeared.
Before you said disappeared when you were trying to add it from the media library, and now you say it disappeared when you were trying to add it to the media library. Which is it: “from” or “to?” Both perhaps?

Forget it. Is there a phone number I can call to get help from someone knowledgeable in these themes? This will take days back an forth to get what is likely a very simple issue.

FYI, It says right at the top, “The blog I need help with is mvguides.wordpress.com.”
By “disappears,” I see the added image in the preview of the page. Then when I look at the page again, the photo isn’t there. The theme has somehow prevented the addition of the photo — yes, from the media library. It’s really a very simple problem.
Sorry, I’m getting frustrated … and regretting my choice of WordPress to show this content.

That’s an automatically generated identifier that only indicates the primary website of the account that you are logged into. Members often refer in forum topics to other sites, both WordPress.com sites and non-WordPress.com sites, than the one automatically generated in the OP. Responders to forum topics have to take other clues into consideration.

Thanks for the description. I doubt whether the theme is a significant factor. Have you tried doing the same thing with another theme activated? In any case, I don’t have an explanation for the disappearance you report. Perhaps it might be best to wait for response by staff.

There is no customer service phone number. I was surprise to accidentally find a direct chat line to a Happiness Engineer one day. During my one and only use of the several weeks back, the HE told me (if I understood correctly) that they were testing the chat line on selected members. I don’t know if it’s generally available yet. If available, the link to the connection will appear at the bottom of the Contact Support page, https://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/, but only after you begin to type in a question.
