Photos don’t show up in my blog and other blogs

Why don’t all of the photos show up? Sometimes they do, but then other times they don’t. And the same thing happens on other people’s blogs, too. If I close my browser and empty the cache, and then try again, my blog’s photos show up sometimes, but then other times they don’t. But, when I come back the next day the photos don’t show up again. I’ve tried deleting posts, recreating posts, editing posts, but nothing fixes the problem. If i hit reload repeatedly on other people’s blogs, the photos eventually show up. My computer is new, so that isn’t the problem, and I do not have this problem on any sites except with WordPress blogs.

OK, there are a number of things and most likely the issue is that the servers are timing out due to having to load so much HUGE stuff.
1. Your background image is HUGE (file size)! Background images should never be more than 100k in file size (75k would be even better), and yours is 3MB. Even using the “save for web and devices” in photoshop, and saving it at a very low quality JPG setting, I can only get it down to 390k.
2. Your images in your posts are all around or over 1MB (2304px wide). Who has a 2304px wide monitor? Well, OK I do, but I’m certifiably crazy. Over 40% of web users are still on 104 x 768 monitor resolutions.
You need to #1, optimize your images for the web, and for the background image, you need to cut it way down dimension wise and then optimize it as well. Your uploaded images should be no bigger than 1000 px wide so that people can see the whole image without having to scroll around. On the background image, I’m not sure how to get that one down to a point where it is usable.
Also, you need to go to settings > reading and reduce the number of posts that show per page to 3 or 5 maximum since your blog is so image intensive.
A couple more things to keep in mind. The search engines look at page loading times and total page download sizes when determining search engine ranking, and they will whack a massive chunk off your search engine ranking for slow loading pages. Secondly, a good number of people on the web are still on 1.5Mbps connection speeds (or slower), and they simply are not going to wait for 5 minutes for your pages to load. People on the web do not have that kind of patience.
