photos from external urls no longer display

About 1% of the photos on my blog are borrowed, with consent, from other websites. I have always, for five years, just entered their urls and they appeared on my blogposts. Now they do not display. Can I do anything or do I need to go back through 700 posts and delete them?

As the images are not being hosted on WordPress.com servers then images are subject to whatever the hosting site has going. If they have been deleted there then they will not display on your blog. I would check to find out what’s going on at the sites that were hosting the images.

At first, I thought that was the issue, but photos from many different websites no longer display on my blog. This seems to have happened about a week ago.
