Photos have all disappeared from my blog

All of my photos have vanished to be replaced by a box with a question mark in the centre. They started disappearing gradually. All gone now.

Hi @domandhelena – If you delete a photo out of your media library it will also be removed from any location where it was located within your blog. To recover any deleted images you can use this link:

Thanks lizkarkoski…very helpful. I’ve tried the link and it takes me to 32 images from theglutton.net and not my images. Am I understanding you correctly when I assume that the link would take me to my photos? Or should I be searching for them there….not sure how to do this.

If you are needing help with a different blog you can enter that blog’s URL into the Google Image search.
Depending on when you deleted the images from your Media Library they could have been removed from Google’s index already.
Sadly, if they are not found in Google then they are gone. You would need to re-insert them from the original files.

@domandhelena – Searching on Google Images for site:http://domandhelena.wordpress.com/ brought back no image results which would indicate there are no images embedded in your posts, in spite of references to them appearing in your site’s code.
Did you indeed delete those images from your Media Library yourself?
If not you, does someone else have access to your computer in case you have left your computer on and stepped away while still logged in to WordPress.com? https://en.support.wordpress.com/security/

@domandhelena I can see you deleted a few images on this site within the past day, and you deleted many others a few months ago.
If you delete the images, they will no longer work on the site. They must be re-uploaded to work properly.

Thanks for your help…question has been answered.
I did all the blogging on an iPad and I probably did delete the photos, can’t really remember doing it but must have done. I did delete the 2 photos the other day. Sadly, I don’t think I can justify spending the time reinserting them all now.
I found WordPress really confusing as a newbie and shan’t be using it again. I’ll try and find a simpler system.
