Photos in Comments

I know that embed code inserts a video in a comment. I’ve inserted a photo before — I thought by inserting the url of the image. But, it won’t show the pic now. How can I insert a photo? Thanks!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there, you would need to use the html image code.

    <img src="URL_OF_IMAGE" alt="alt-tag">

Thanks! It really limits the userbase to a kind of elite set. Not that basic HTML is elite code, but in 2018, it’s almost like Latin to most ppl.

  • You’re right :D

Please let us know if you help with anything else!

Sacredpath and Fstat, I may have closed this out too soon. Oddest thing. I placed HTML in the comment. It flashed the image just for a second, then it went poof. When I tried to check the comment and edit again, it showed no remnants of the line of code. It was like it was never there. Here’s the code I entered. The image size is just the original size of the image.

What do you suppose stops this from working?

Ha. It didn’t show the code. Just the image that was SUPPOSED to be in my comment that didn’t show in my blog. Works here, though. That figures. I’mma try again to get the code to show here. Maybe if I just omit the greater than, less than bookends:

  • Hi @musesmachine,

Actually, one easy option for embedding an image is to simply paste its URL on a line like so:

Is that no longer working for you?

    Hi, supernovia,

See how it didn’t work for you there? I thought using just the .jpg file would just post the pic. Doesn’t work for me, either.

The image files are copied URL’s I copied from my image uploaded to my WordPress.com media. You don’t suppose that it’s WordPress.com images that won’t post?

Here’s the link to a random smile with a peace sign emoji:

  • See how it didn’t work for you there?

That embed method isn’t supposed to work in the forums :)

But it is supposed to work with standard images, so long as the image host allows hotlinking.

If you paste this into a post on your site does it work?

I can’t make guarantees about the image on redubble.net since they may not allow hotlinking, and since it has commas and what not that might keep the system from allowing it as a standard image.

If it is to work, this is your best bet:

@Supernovia, thanks for the super due-diligence. I posted the code with your copy uploaded to the other host. It posted fine. I uploaded a copy of the image to WP and used a link to it in the code. It worked. So, I used the jpg of the banner (literal) that I originally intended up, and it worked.

That it did is WEIRD, because the identical code didn’t work when @fstat and @thesacredpath suggested prior in the thread. It wasn’t working the other day, and now it is.

I don’t like pesticides up in my bizniz, but, I HATE bugs. Thanks for your help! All three of you’s!
