Photos into text

  I don’t have a wordpress site that I have to pay for . I just have the basic one. Until Friday I used to choose, New post, text. Then write what I wanted and insert photos where I wanted from my computer. I don’t understand what I am supposed to do now. The photos don’t go into the text but straight onto my site. I am very confused. Please can someone tell me in lay persons language what I do now to place photos into text like I could before. Thank you so much
