Photos Not Displaying on my Blog
-
Hello,
The photos are no longer displaying on my blog, just a small thumbnail icon where all of my photos should be! What’s happened and how can I fix it? None of the photos work on any of my 40-50 posts.
Please help, thank you.

I only checked your last post from January and it looks like your images were hotlinked from facebook. So if they are down, your images won’t be available. It may be temporary.
I do remember seeing another semi-recent post about this issue and will try to find it and post a link here.

Hotlinking images in your site gives someone else control over their display. WPcom gives you 3GB of free space, which if you are resizing and optimizing your images before uploading them, will last quite a long time. Then you are in control.

Here’s one post, a Staff reply, although it is not the one I originally referred to (and I’ll keep looking):

I have seen at least two different sources of problems with photos (hosted on wp.com).
The first seems to be a browser problem with Safari on iOS 8.3. Every so often, it gets “stuck” and will not load images from wordpress.com blogs. If you force-quit Safari via the task switcher and re-launch it, everything recovers.
The seconds seems to be occasional server connection performance with wordpress.com. I have a very image-heavy blog, and sometimes it seems that they are so slow to load that something times out. I have seen this intermittently a couple of times a month. Not sure if this is the host wordpress servers or something to do with the (usually really dodgy) caching servers that Orange applies to network connections here in Europe.

@transienteye – Since the images on swirrly8’s site appear to be hosted on facebook, I don’t believe this is the problem.
@swirrly8 – how did you add those images to your site? Did you embed them rather than insert the direct image URL? The reason I ask is because none of the images in your code end in JPG or JPEG, which is the direct image URL.
Perhaps another forum volunteer might come through with other suggestions/ideas.

I’m seeing photos in your site now. Were you able to resolve this with justjennifer’s guidance?

Just confirming that I can now see the photos as well.
According to the OP’s post from the 25th, it looks like she has begun to move and insert her photos to her WPcom site’s Media Library rather than hosting them elsewhere. Good move!
Again, resizing and optimizing your images before uploading them, will not only improve clarity and page loading time (very important these days), it will make that 3GB of free space last quite a long time. There’s a Support doc on that as well: https://en.support.wordpress.com/media/image-optimization/
