Photos not inserting in post

Today I can’t get photos to insert in the post. They appear to upload from my computer and I see the little display image and choose the size and placement. When I hit insert, all I get is a white screen, and “done.” Is this a system wide glitch?

Thank you!!! I am having this exact same problem – since yesterday, so frustrating.
I can upload the photo, click on the photo I want to use, via the “show” button, but then the photo isn’t going to a new page like it used to so that you can then insert the photo into your post – it just freezes with the photo uploader showing all your photos and the one you selected somewhat overlapped by the other photos.
Then you cannot close the photo uploader window after you try to insert a photo.I have emailed Nick at support and sent him a screen shot of it, I am hoping he has an answer for me.

Log out of wordpress, clear your browser cache and cookies, restart your browser and then try again.

Tried that, didn’t work. Switched to Firefox, cleared out everything and the same thing is still happening. I couldn’t put a photo in a post if you put a gun to my head – it just won’t go. Then the frozen page after you try to upload the photo will make you pull your hair out!
Someone must have an answer for this – and surely there aren’t only two people with this problem!

That worked for me on Firefox. I cannot even begin to use IE for photos. Since the “new” format, I’ve had nothing but problems. Sigh

I just uploaded a photo and inserted it into a post on three of my test blogs without a problem, so I’m not sure what is going on.
I would suggest contacting staff directly. Most of us here in the forums are volunteers and have no backend access. http://support.wordpress.com/contact/

I am on a pc. I am still ripping my hair out over this. I can’t figure out what the problem is. Nick in support logged into my account and didn’t have the problem so I’m starting to think we all have some sort of issue with our computer? What could it be?
It sure would be nice to put a photo or two into my post right about now!

IE7 seems OK, but IE6… well the web is passing it by at mach 12.
@wicked, do you have adblockplus installed on firefox? If so, temporarily deactivate it and try again to see if it works. I’ve seen others where that was the issue and they had to whitelist their blog ( http://blogname.wordpress.com/* ).
@msheart2 what browser and version are you using on your mac? I’m having no issues at all with Safari 3.2.1 or Firefox 3.0.5.
One other general comment: Check and make sure you are using flash player 9 or 10 as the flash uploader used here requires at least 9. http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/ .

i’ve contacted support along with removing ad-block plus and chatzilla and restarted firefox (when logged out of course), got rid of cookies and stuff…. all that jazz. no dice. i’m able to upload pictures ONLY through the “quick post” feature on the dashboard, but not directly into posts or pages. Nick hasn’t gotten back to me a second time, but i’m sure he will. i am on a mac 10.4.11 and FF 3.0.5. this is supremely frustrating.

I have this problem on one of my independent WP.org blogs, and it’s not something on my computer, since I have used a wide variety of computers that all show the same problem. In that case it was a plugin on the blog, but that does you no good to know, I suppose.
Still, here’s the workaround I use. I upload the image, copy the URL of the image (don’t bother putting in Caption etc because it won’t work with this workaround) click Save, close that window, and click to the HTML editor. Then I use the IMG button to insert the image. Then I click back to the visual editor and make it look nice with formatting, etc.

So here’s where I am today. I have cleared the cache, logged out of wordpress, logged on, tried with firefox, ie7, and still no photo love.
When using firefox – I click on add media or add photo and then click on media library, click on Show for the image and the image is shown as overlapped with just the tippy top of it showing and then it freezes and I can’t close the add an image screen. Gone.
When using IE7, I do the same but when I click show for the image, I see the image can add the image but then can’t close the add an image screen – it’s just white and frozen(similar to the scenery out my window here in Maine). Have to click on my dashboard again to get out of screen like with firefox. gone.
So – it seems to be a problem that is very common as I have researched this for three days now. However any tip or trick that is talked about does not work for me.
How can this be?
I am not literate enough in codes to do some of the tricks that super computer people are referring to. I need plain english – I’m pretty good at following directions, just need to be able to follow them in average-joe lingo.
If anyone can get me out of this mess, I’ll give you props on my blog and devote an entire post to you, my new found hero!

Nick threw me a line a suggested allowing the dashboard pages to fully load before attempting to upload anything, as he says:
“Are you waiting for the entire Dashboard page to load before clicking on the Add an Image button? I’ve had the full screen window appear but it’s always been when I haven’t let the previous page load completely first. The page needs to load because of the scripts and everything that work with the popup window.”
So this morning everything seems to be working fine for me… I wish you all the best. There seem to be multiple reasons for and solutions to this problem.

I’m about ready to pull my hair out – I can now see the image loading into my post if I use the url link but then the “add an image” window won’t close so I can hit save post – it just freezes. I feel like I’ve tried everything yet I can’t seem to fix it.
