photos not uploading

    So, as I try to upload photos, I keep getting this error message. any ideas on what I can do to fix this? running 2.7 it won’t let me update automatically and I have no idea how to do it manually if this is the problem. Everything was working just fine until Sunday night.

    The uploaded file could not be moved to /home/peter/public_html/wp-content/uploads/2011/08.

    help please.
