Photos/images withOUT attachments

Hello,
I’m new to WordPress blogging and I got a bit puzzled with trying to upload pictures/photos to posts and pages.
I want to insert a photo into the post or the page, but I do NOT want the post to display the photos as well as the attachment.When I add a new post, everything seems fine (usually). But when I continue to the post via the link, the post displays the text, the photo AND and text “the attachments to this post:” attaching small thumbnails of the photos again, even making them “clickable”.
Now, I don’t want that and I would like for help how to get rid of this setting. When I set up a page and insert photos, it will always add the “the attachments to this post:” part… Quite ennoying. :-(I am using the little button over the text box to insert new picuters. Then I click on “link to URL”, a setting I need for the plugin I am using (Lightbox).
