I had asked for my website address to be photowicklow.com when I set up (I own this with register 365 and they have pointed it to you), but I have heard nothing. Is there something I need to do ??

Please read this first so your are crystal clear on the differences http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
Yes. WordPress.com does not accept domain transfers but mapping an existing domain is possible.
Domain mapping of an existing domain URL that you already own and purchased elsewhere is not done free of charge. You will have to renew the domain name purchase where you made it and the domain mapping purchase here every year.
Important Notes Before Upgrading http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/#important-notes-before-upgrading
Mapping an existing domain costs $13. annually. In order to map to a domain one must have an underlying .wordpress.com subdomain blog to map from and it does not matter what that underlying .wordpress.com URL is. It does not have to match the domain URL. If you have registered a .wordpress.com blog you log in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the blog and purchase a domain name by purchasing an annually renewable domain mapping upgrade for the blog.
See here for mapping an existing domain that you already own http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/
Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades is where you do the primary blog set up knowing it can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.

Hi Donal,
Before you can set up your domain photowicklow.com at WordPress.com, you’ll need to create the WordPress.com site that you’ll be using the domain with. You can do that here:
https://signup.wordpress.com/signup/
When you create the site, you’ll need to pick a free WordPress.com address (like photowicklow.wordpress.com) that we’ll use behind the scenes. Then, you can map your domain photowicklow.com to that site.
Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)

Rachel,
Thanks for everything, I’m up and running.
For now I’m more interested in the web site element of this site, as I need to prepare for an e-book I intend publishing in the new year.
Is photowicklow.com a blog site or a web site or is it both.Regards & thanks

Hi Donal,
It can be both a blog and a website, or you can turn it into just one or the other. Since you’re more interested in it being a website, I’d recommend going through our “Create Your WordPress.com Site” guide. (Some of the steps in that guide were written for sites with the Business Plan, but you can still follow most of the steps for your site without any plan upgrade. It’ll help get you set up with a regular website rather than a blog.)
Just let me know if I can do anything more to help with that. :)
