  Php is out of date. I have been advised that rather than updating it I should build a new website. Is there a way to update without a complete rebuild? I have added a back up plugin and completed a back up.

  On WordPress.com the PHP us updates automatically, so I assume you’re talking about a site hosted elsewhere. You’ll probably get more help with that at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/.
