Our host will not update the PHP. I cannot update my site (ie. I cannot save changes–keeps saying cannot update). I am not offline.

Is there anyway I can still use wordpress without these updates or do I need to stop using wordpress for our website?

    Hi there!

Sorry to hear that! Updating PHP will be mandatory soon, as outdated PHP on the server can be incompatible with a WordPress site.

Please note that your site at canadianponyclub.org uses WordPress.org, which is different from the WordPress.com sites we provide support for in this forum. If you aren’t sure about the differences, please check the following page that explains it well: WordPress.com vs WordPress.org.

May I suggest migrating your site to our platform? We have different WordPress.com plans that cater to all kinds of needs, and you can choose one that fits your site requirements best.

For example, if your site has plugins and you want to continue using the theme that’s currently active on your site, our Business plan will be best for you.

On WordPress.com, we take care of your site in ways most hosting companies don’t. For example, we keep everything up-to-date. We have strong security, spam filtering, automated backups (with the Business plan), unlimited bandwidth (so your site never goes down no matter how many visitors you get), and more. You can learn more about WordPress.com hosting on this page.

We have a guide for migrating an entire WordPress site that you can follow to seamlessly migrate your site to WordPress.com hosting. We can help you with the migration, as the WordPress.com Business plan includes 24/7 live chat when you pay yearly.

You can, of course, choose the WordPress.com Premium plan as well, which does not include plugins but does have its own set of features. If you’re not sure which plan to choose, feel free to tell us more about your site requirements. If there are specific features you need on your site, we’d love to hear about them so we can suggest the best plan for you.
