pic insert always uptop and not always set for enlarge?

Every time I insert a picture either from direct upload or from media gallery It will insert itself to the top of the page. I have tried many different setting in the gallery ,no set, left etc. Still places itself up top and cannot get the text to go next to it. creates huge gaps etc. After a lot of #^% and it is on the right row and not right position, It will not enlarge when clicked on in the site. What is going on?

It certainly enlarges when clicked on for me.
You ARE talking about the pic of the lake with the trees, right, this one:
Center-aligned pics will NOT have word wrapping. You must align it either left or right to wrap words around it. If you strip out the caption code, as you are doing, you should use the Column Align buttons to align it OR go to Edit, click on the image to get the mountain icon, and align it using the terms in the pop-up box.

Yes they enlarge now because I have to delete and upload a few times in order to get it to work. I have tried all those things when I am having trouble with pics being placed.
I had gone to the Q&A’s and tried every suggestion. It is a intermittent problem.I have tried with firefox and ie8 browsers. Could it be the theme I am using? I can go and align the pics using both methods but that doesn’t mean it will align in the right place. It is so frustrating. I spent an afternoon doing a process of elimination.
I have not tried a new theme yet.

Some themes are much more recalcitrant than others, but you should get this to work.
What I do is post the pic, strip out the caption stuff, pick alignment (note that in Visual editor you can even drag the pic) and set Link To (in this case, File, using the URL of the image) in the “mountain icon” properties. That really SHOULD work. Sometimes you have to post it, see it didn’t align, and then click the darn alignment button again. I have no idea why, but it’s fiddly sometimes.
To ENSURE that it doesn’t go at the top, type some text before you insert the image. That should help, if you’re not already doing that.

Well I did as you requested and it worked . I checked for some updates in the support site and found this. I guess they had to find a way to make it easier. So if anyone is having the problems I had about pic alignment this is the easiest solution.

Now I just have to test the enlargement upon insertion. I am hoping this will solve it also.

Pic enlargement is a go once again. Doing the pic alignment as mentioned above will ensure that the enlargements work properly. It must have been through other manipulations of trying to place pics that caused it to loose the effect.
