Pics changing size in preview

I want to put three small images on the same line. All three came out but the third one is slightly smaller in height than the others. They all measure the same so why is the third not appearing the same?
I am having so many problems lining up pictures, it’s the second time this has happened – see blog welcome to Aquaworld http://wp.me/p1O5gv-h There’s a set of 6 images and the middle one is a different size. Please help!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I see exactly what you mean and I have experienced the same thing several times on my blogs as well. The situation was the same on my blogs. All the images were optimized offline and all were exactly the same dimensions prior to uploading them yet, I had the same thing you have with your sea turtle image. I was too busy to create a support ticket but this is an issue that Staff need to address. Here’s the link http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/ After you use the searchbox, under the search results, at the bottom of the page there will be a section that says “Have you found the answer to your question?” You can choose either “Yes I found the answer to my question.” or “No I didn’t find the answer to my question and I would like to contact support for help.” The no option will reveal the contact form.

    Thanks, I have contacted support.

Will you please return to this thread and inform us as to what Staff says?

@aquaworldcancun: In the post you linked to, the originals aren’t all in the same aspect ratio (the fifth one is 400×279 px while the rest are 4/3). You should either correct its dimensions in an image editing application and upload and insert the corrected version, or switch the editor to HTML and change its code from this:
    <img class=etc etc etc
    to this:
    <img style="width:150px;height:112px;" class=etc etc etc

I’m sorry for my ignorance but I don’t understand what you mean. The originals are all different sizes ie the yellow sub is 400×245, the fishing one is 604×453 – the turtle one is 400×279.
Then when I uploaded them to the block I set them all at 150×112 which is how they appear now.
    Thanks for the help.

If 150×112 was “how they appear now”, you wouldn’t be complaining! The turtle image appears at 150×104.

I didn’t say the other five are the same size, I said they have the same aspect ratio: barracuda is 604×453, subbig and sky1alto are 640×480, dive and reefexpress are 400×300 (all five in a 4/3 ratio), but the turtle is 400×279 (not 4/3). So when you downsize them all to a width of 150px, the height of the other five will be 112px but the turtle will naturally be shorter.

You cannot distort the image by “setting” 150×112 the way you’ve done it: you need to do what I suggested in my previous reply.

I’m not complaing, I am asking for some help.
I am saying that 150×112 is how they appear now – to me in my template blog.
I appreciate the help, but don’t understand what you mean by aspect ratio. Thank you though,

  • Unknown's avatar

Aspect ration is essentuial hight to width – think of TV and computer screens – they are certain aspect ratios. It is the same with photos.

  • Unknown's avatar

*sigh* typos – sorry. Trust you realise I meant “Aspect ratio is essentially height to width ”

  • Unknown's avatar

Aspect ratio is the proportion of width to height. A 200×100 image, a 500×250 image and a 1000×500 image all have an aspect ratio of 2/1. Any square image has an aspect ratio of 1/1 (width equal to height).

But no matter whether you understand the technicalities or not, I did help you from the start: you need to switch the editor to HTML and change the code of the turtle image as I suggested in my original reply.

Or copy this and upload and insert it in place of the original (I cropped it to make it similar to the others):

Thank you so much, I get what you mean now. I appreciate it.
