Picto Browser

Hi folks,
Just a question:
I stumbled upon Picto Browser plug-in which seems to me a rather nice way to present a gallery.
Is there a way to use that in wordpress.com (Modularity Lite) or is it only meant for the org folks? Thanks and grts

Sorry, plugins are not allowed at wordpress.COM for security reasons. Plugins are for self-hosted blogs using the software from wordpress.ORG.

We do have the gallery feature here (not too fancy, but it is at least something).

We also have the built in slideshow feature.

I was afraid of that :-) But well, now I know for sure…
Yes, I know the com gallery and am using it – as well as the slide show. But somehow I am still trying to find something that presents a bit more fluently without loss of photo quality.
Guess I’ll have to wait till someone comes up with something new for the com side :-)
Thanks a lot!

I’m hoping for some sort of light box feature here. I think the time for that is long overdue. There are a lot of photographers here and I know they would love it.

Wow! I wouldn’t mind having your backdoor here :-)
That looks nice but it is again a bit the same gallery system. What I would really like is a Picasa sort of full screen slide show (or Flikr – but I’m not so crazy about that site…) that you can start from the blog. I tried all possible ways I could think of to link to a Picasa slide show but sooner or later it always ends up at the miniatures instead of the show.
If you have a few photos, the gallery or just putting the pictures on a row works fine. But if you have a whole story of about 20 photos, all that clicking and scrolling kind of gets irritating… :-) I don’t mind going slow myself but most people are the ‘click and go…’ kind… -
We know that the lightbox kind of feature can be done here. Hopefully TPTB can find one that is licensed in a manner that it can be incorporated here.
As far as scrolling though images, the Gallery Attachment pages do have “previous” and “next” links.
Flicker slide shows can be dropped into your post if you have auto-embed enabled on your blog. http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/media-settings/ and if your photos are public. You can see an example at work on this post on my blog http://justjennifer.wordpress.com/2009/08/23/28th-anniversary-roadtrip/

Thanks for the input, Jennifer :-) That is indeed what I mean. Guess I will have to get over my aversion to Flickr or just wait and see what WordPress comes up with.
Thanks to both of you!
