Pictorico Theme: change dimensions of header image
-
I,
I’m using the Pictorico theme to build this site, I’d like to change the size of the header image, reduce its height to may 350-500px. The only references I can find to the height of the image are in custom-header.php, but editing these doesn’t change anything? any idea what gives?
Many thanks,
Laurie

hang-on, I can change the image size by customising the class “.header-image” in custom CSS; but I get a black band beneath the image – as far as I can see this is controlled by the div class “entry-header” but customising the CSS for this changes nothing.
Any ideas?
-
clarification, if I change the height to 350px in firefox’s inspector then that works a treat – if I change it in my custom CSS file nothing happens!
-
and if I change it in the original CSS file this works; although obvs that’s nota lasting solution.

Hey raylauriemigrantalert,
I may not be understanding your problem completely, but when I change the entry-header height and header-image height to 500px from 350px it changes. Does this solve your issue?
-
If it were me I would only restrict by one height for less confusion. Set entry-header to what you want it at, and then header-image to 100%. That way you only need to look in one place.
-
hi, thanks,
changing .entry-header alone works in inspector, and it works also if I go into the main stylesheet and change it there, but not in my child theme (other css changes seem to have worked there)
“.image-height”, appears to be a percentage only (100%)
am I looking in the wrong place?
thanks

It looks like in your child theme you have:
.header-image { background-position: center; background-repeat: no-repeat; -webkit-background-size: cover; -moz-background-size: cover; -o-background-size: cover; background-size: cover; height: 100%;You forgot to close it with:
}

@raylauriemigrantalert
http://www.migrantalert.org.uk/ is NOT a blog hosted by WordPress.COM with a custom design upgrade.This is the WordPress.COM support forum. You need to post to the WordPress.ORG support forum for help with your site because it is not hosted by WordPress.COM.
WordPress.com and WordPress.org are completely separate and have different logins, features and run different versions of some themes with the same names http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there and receive advice from WordPress.ORG bloggers.

The WordPress.ORG support forums are at this link http://wordpress.org/support/We never provide support here for those WordPress.org installs because if we do those with WordPress.com blogs become confused ie. all mucked up. WordPress.com and WordPress.org are completely separate and different http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

Thanks. Most bloggers posting here are beginners with .wordpress.com blogs who haven’t blogged before and that means they are easily confused.Some days about 30% of those who post here are actually wordpress.org bloggers. Most are lost and need redirection to the correct support forum, but there are others who don’t like waiting for support in their own support forum who post here.
The first thing we volunteers do is verify the URL of the blog referred to and who hosts it. We click the member link under the username to examine their support history, so there aren’t duplicated threads all over the forum that Staff have to waste time closing.

i’d close the .com account since i don’t use it but can’t find the option in the control panel.
