  on my wordpress welcome page there is a big blank bit of page. can i insert a pic there?

  If you’re talking about the main part of the blog, that will fill up with posts once you make some. It’s a big white space now because you only have the placeholder post, you need to make more posts. And yes, you can certainly make posts with pictures in them.

  Right now, everything is a static page. If you want the home page to fill up, you need to make posts, not pages. They’re different:

  A Post and a Page

  Write on your post, upload photos or videos and even files! But you have to start it to see it.
