Picture has disappeared
-
The picture I have had on the home page of my blog has disappeared and I cannot get it to repost on the page. So frustrating. My daughter has tried to help, but to no avail. Any suggestions? I have followed every set of directions (that’s how I got the photo on there in the first place, with no difficulty at all) but can’t get it to reappear.
Thanks for your help.

Are you referring to a Header image?
http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/splendio/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/custom-header-image/
The custom header image and featured header image is 990 by 400 (width, height). Are you referring to a featured image?
http://en.support.wordpress.com/featured-images/#setting-a-featured-image
Splendio – Images in the featured slider must be have a width of at least 180.
If you don’t see the Featured Image module on your Add New or Edit Post page, please make sure you’ve selected Featured Image in your Screen Options. http://en.support.wordpress.com/screen-optionsAre you referring to an image in a post or a page?
(1) Is the missing image found in your Media Library ie. did you upload it from your computer onto WordPress.com servers? And, if so, then is it still in the Media Library now? Please check.
Or is the missing image one you have linked to on some other server somewhere else online such as flickr or photobucket who allow hotlinking?
Or is the missing image one you have linked to on some other server somewhere else online that does not allow hotlinking?
If you removed any images from your Media Library then they cannot be displayed. If you are hotlinking to images on sites that don’t allow that the images will not be displayed.

I’m referring to the image I put on my home page of the blog. It’s the only picture I put on it. I changed the theme from Twenty ten to Splendio just to see if that would work, but it did’t help. It’s my own picture that I cropped, and it was up for a few weeks and then disappeared.

Yes – the media image is still in the Media Library, and I can’t get it from there to my home page.

After you change a theme you need to do is go here Dashboard > Appearance > Widgets > Inactive Widgets and re-install the widgets you had in the sidebar where you want them to appear. The widget contents and settings will be the same as they were prior to changing themes.
It could be one of these:

Timethief – you are wonderful – I cannot tell you what a time-thief restoring this picture has been — so thank you for preventing me from wasting any more hours on this. The photo is back.
