Picture in header not large enough on large screens
-
Hi there!
I am struggling to understand why my picture in the header of my theme (Mirror) does perfectly fit the width of the header on standard screens, but shows white portions on the right and left on larger screens (e.g. 24”). I’ve tried to change the width in the html code from 1500 to 100% and it works:<img src=”https://xxxxxx.files.wordpress.com/2015/02/cropped-img_31781.jpg” width=”1500″ height=”394″ alt=””>
But refreshing the page or coming back later puts it back to 1500 (there is no saving). I am not an expert at all on css/html or even coding…
Additional note: my picture is much larger than the header (5000×4000 approx.).
Any clue?
ThanksStephane

Stephanie, have you tried resizing that original picture to the recommended 1500×350 size and uploading it again? This sounds like a ratio problem when your theme is trying to resize the image from the original 5000×4000.

Hi Susan,
Thanks for your help. Yes, actually, I crop the image via WordPress before uploading it and the resulting size is 1500×394. The whole picture is visible and perfectly sized on the majority of PC and laptop screens, except on large screens where I can see these two white spaces each side of my picture…
