Picture in Post is huge

  I am such a newbie…sorry ahead of time for this question. I have looked in forums and in support and cant seem to find the answer. I uploaded a picture to put in a post, then when I look at the post, it’s huge! I can click on the picture and it reduces size.. but thats not what i’m looking for. I’ve tried to edit the picture from file to page etc and nothing works. Can someone help?

  If the problem is that the picture is too big and you are quite able to reduce its size, I’m not seeing what the remaining issue is. Can you clarify?

  Well, the front page of my blog is my posts, so when you go to the front page, all you see is lots of color (like 1/100) of the picture. my blog is “thepurplepea”. (dont know a way to link it yet). would you look?

  put the full URL of the blog here. I’m going to guess and say it’s http://thepurplepea.wordpress.com but if that’s not right, say so.

  In the FAQ there are simple instructions for posting images:

  You might also want to make the image smaller BEFORE uploading it, so it doesn’t take as much space from your WordPress account.

  It is http://thepurplepea.wordpress.com. I’ve tried the options that the FAQ suggests, I also made the picture a thumbnail by changing the code from jpg to “thum”. But the thumbnail just had a box with a red x in it. I cropped the picture before uploading and changed the pixels to the “web/blog” setting from my photo editor before loading too. When you say make the image smaller.. you mean less pixels..right?

  Actually you add in ‘.thumbnail’ to the file name, not change the extenstion.

  filename.jpg becomes filename.thumbnail.jpg

  Thank you for that info. I think I figured it out. (I’ll find out the next time I upload a picture). I found a place in my photo editor to change the size based on %. I changed it numerous times and i think it finally ended up at 15% – then marked the picture as “full size” and to the file. Thanks again!
